Rescheduling

You can reschedule your test for free if there are more than 14 full calendar days before your test.
You can reschedule a test appointment up to 6 times.
Once your test is within 14 days, rescheduling is no longer allowed.
The ‘Reschedule’ button will not be shown on your myPTE dashboard if it's too late to reschedule.
If you cannot reschedule, you will need to cancel your test and book a new appointment.
Please refer to the cancellation policy for any applicable fees if you need to cancel.

Retake

If you didn’t achieve the score you need, you have the option to retake the test.

Booking Your Next Test: You can only schedule your next test after you have received the results of your previous test. This ensures that you have complete information before making another attempt.
Test Booking Limitations: You can book only one test at a time. This prevents overlapping test bookings and helps you focus on preparing for each test individually.
Advanced Test Booking: Tests can be booked up to 6 months in advance. This gives you flexibility in planning your test, allowing you to secure a slot in advance for your preferred test date.
Test Frequency: You can take the test multiple times within a month, but you are limited to a maximum of 12 attempts within a 12-month period. This ensures that you are not taking the test too frequently, giving you enough time to improve between attempts.
Exception for More Attempts: In some cases, you may be allowed to take the test more than 12 times within a year. To request an exception, you must submit the exception form for Pearson’s consideration.

Account Creation and Malpractice Policy

Do not create a new account to bypass these rules. Creating a new account to book additional tests may delay your future test scores and could potentially violate Pearson's malpractice policy, leading to consequences.

Cancellation

If you cancel at least 14 full calendar days before your test, you will get a full refund.
Cancelling between 8 and 13 full calendar days before your test will get you a 50% refund.
If you cancel fewer than 7 days before your test, you will not receive any refund.
Any additional charges (e.g., special accommodations or courier fees for test results).

Cancellation and Rescheduling by Pearson

Pearson has the right, at its discretion, to cancel or reschedule your test, alter the test content, or adjust the number of test takers in a session.

In the event that Pearson cancels or reschedules your test, you will be notified promptly. You will then have the option to either receive a full refund or reschedule your test for an alternative date or at a different test center. Pearson will work with you to ensure that you can take the test at a convenient time and location.

Exceptions for Medical and Family Emergencies

Reschedule Due to Emergencies: If you are unable to attend your test due to illness or a family emergency, Pearson may allow you to reschedule for free, at its discretion.
Requesting a Reschedule: To request a reschedule, fill out the Request Emergency Reschedule form as soon as you become aware of the emergency.
Providing Evidence: Attach any relevant evidence to support your request.
Time Frame for Request: You can submit this request up to 14 full calendar days before your scheduled test date.
Acceptance of Evidence: Acceptance of your evidence is at Pearson’s discretion.
No Automatic Guarantee: There is no automatic right to rebook or receive a refund if you miss the test for medical or family reasons.
Additional Information: Pearson will contact you if any further information or documentation is needed.

Payment Process for Your PTE Exam Booking

To complete the exam booking you will require full payment in the specified currency for the test. Pearson accept a variety of payment methods, including major credit and debit cards, as well as digital payment options such as Google Pay and Apple Pay. The available payment methods may vary depending on the country you are booking from.

Voucher Payments

Voucher payments can be used to cover the test fee; however, they cannot be applied to rescheduling fees. Please note that voucher payments are non-refundable and cannot be returned once applied.

Payment Declined or Failed

If your payment is declined, your test appointment or test results will be canceled. It is important to ensure that your payment is successfully processed to confirm your PTE exam booking.

Payment Cancellations or Chargebacks

If your payment is canceled or if a chargeback is initiated by your bank or card provider, your test appointment or test results will be canceled. In such cases, it is your responsibility to resolve the payment issue in order to maintain your booking.

Ensure Your Personal Details Are Correct

To book your test, fill in the registration form with your personal details.

Your personal details must match the information on your identification document.
Enter all your names (including middle names) in the ‘Given name(s)’ field.
Enter your surname or family name in the ‘Surname’ field.
If your ID doesn’t include a surname, enter a full stop (.) in the ‘Surname’ field.
Use Roman characters for all entries.
If asked for your country of citizenship, provide the country listed in your passport. Your country of residence is where you currently live (they may be the same).

Once you have completed the registration, you will see a summary of your appointment details on your myPTE dashboard.

Documents Required

You must present a valid and acceptable ID for verification. Failure to meet these requirements may result in denied entry and the forfeiture of your test fee.

1. Acceptable Forms of Identification

Primary ID: In most cases, your passport will be the required form of ID. This is the most commonly accepted and preferred document for PTE registration.

Alternative IDs: If you do not have a passport, you may be allowed to use an alternative ID, but this depends on the specific requirements of the PTE test you are taking.

If in the country of citizenship and no passport, some locations may accept:

Valid government-issued driver's license (non-digital, with a photo)
Military ID card
National ID card (non-digital)
Test-takers must check the exceptions and variations list to see if an alternative ID is accepted.
Without a valid passport or an accepted alternative ID, test-takers will not be allowed in the test room.
If denied entry, the test fee will be forfeited.
Immigrants, refugees, or stateless persons who can't provide the specified ID must fill out the Immigrant, Refugee, and Stateless Person application form.

Physical ID Only: Digital IDs are not accepted under any circumstances. You must present a physical, original document.

2. ID Validity Requirements for PTE Exam Registration

For your ID to be accepted:

It must be valid, meaning it cannot be expired.
The ID must have been issued within the last 10 years. IDs older than 10 years will not be considered valid, even if they are not expired.

3. Matching Details between ID and Booking Information

When you book your test, the details you provide must exactly match the information on the ID you will present on test day. This includes:

Full Name: Your first and last name must be identical to what appears on your ID.
Date of Birth (DOB): Ensure this matches exactly.
Citizenship: The ID must reflect your correct citizenship as listed during PTE exam booking.
Gender: This must also align with the details on your ID.

If there are any differences between the information you provide during booking and the details on your ID, you will not be allowed to sit for the test. This will also result in the loss of your test fee.

4. Original ID Only—Photocopies Not Allowed

You must present the original, physical copy of your ID.
Photocopies, even if certified by an authority, will not be accepted.

5. Appearance Must Match Photo on ID

Your ID photo must clearly and accurately reflect your current appearance. Test center staff will use this to confirm your identity.
If your appearance has significantly changed since the photo was taken, you may be denied entry.
This rule applies even if your ID is otherwise valid, and the test fee will not be refunded.
Child Passports (for under-18s): If you are using a valid child passport and your current appearance no longer matches the photo, you may also be denied entry.

6. Special Situations and Additional Guidelines

If Your Passport is Unavailable:

If your passport is being held for a visa application or other official purposes, you must request its return in time for your test. You will not be allowed to use a temporary document or receipt in place of your passport.

During the booking process, you will be asked to confirm the ID you plan to use on test day. Ensure that you bring the exact same ID to the test center. Substituting a different ID will not be allowed.

7. Consequences of Not Meeting ID Requirements

If you fail to meet the ID requirements outlined above, the following will happen:

You will not be allowed to enter the test room.
Your test fee will not be refunded.
You may need to reschedule your test and pay the fee again.
